Civil War Soldiers Toughened Up for the Daily Grind

Lucerne Valley Museum offers “Evening Desert” series with guest Dennis Emmanuel – gun collector/ historian

The Civil War military life was hard to live through for the average soldier. Young men often facing their first time away from home had to learn more than marching, drills, and rifle practice. You’ll be able to see the original uniforms, weapons, and tools of the infantryman during a presentation Monday, Feb. 22, from 6-8 pm when Dennis Emmanuel shares his knowledge. The Evening Desert series is hosted by L.V. Museum Association and is free to the public.

Sporting a Scots Military Uniform, Dennis Emmanuel collects antique arms and military uniforms -- the real thing.

Dennis is a long-time collector with extensive knowledge of the Civil War Era. He’s shared his collection with many historic societies and is often called as a guest speaker. His uniforms are museum quality and authentic — not reproductions made of today’s materials.

Join us Monday evening, Feb. 22 from 6-8 pm at the LV Community Center. The program is free and light refreshments will be available. For information leave a message at 760-248-6777.
